Overcoming Self-Resistance
Saturday, Jan 23, 1:00 - 3:30 pm $30
This is the workshop for people who have already broken most of their 2010 new year’s resolutions or have given up making them altogether. Do you ever find yourself suddenly doing the dishes, tidying up or pretty much anything else EXCEPT working on reaching a desirable goal once you've decided to create change in your life? Ah, resistance! When we feel a little stuck in life, chances are that we are stuck in “analysis paralysis”, an “all-thinking-no-movement” syndrome. Directive action, regardless of how small, is an amazing anti-stagnation potion that can quickly lift a dark mood and negative spiral thinking. How can you overcome the barriers you've created in fear, and leap forward? Join us in this workshop and learn how to use tools such as guided imagery, powerful movement techniques and journaling to help you break through those barriers. Please bring a yoga mat or cushion to sit on. This workshop is being held again due to its popularity.

Writing the Stories You Need to Tell
Thursday, Jan 28, 7:30 - 9:30 pm $25
This workshop will help you to explore the stories you hold in your body using poetry and prose as a compass. Just as we release thoughts and emotions through meditation, yoga and breath, so we can through the written word. Whether you are a new writer wanting a safe and encouraging space to begin, or a writer who would like to explore your work in further depth, this will be an opportunity for all. Participants will write in small groups together and apart, using exercises designed to help discover the stories you are being called to tell.

Breathwork Seminar (4 hours)
Saturday, January 30, 1:00 - 5:00 pm $60
Without proper breathing and oxygenation, the body cannot perform at its best and all healing is compromised. Breathwork is safe, powerful, energizing, deeply healing and therapeutic, and when done on a regular basis, will produce lasting, transformational change.
Most of our energy should come from breathing, yet many of us access only 20% of our full breathing capacity, leaving our cells starved for oxygen and compromising optimum health. Improper breathing either causes, or worsens every illness. Learning how to expand your breath in natural and healthy ways can help not only with various medical conditions (asthma, poor digestion, insomnia, high blood pressure, panic attacks, stress, etc.) but can increase longevity and support your quest for well-being and self-transformation. Breathwork can also release stored muscle and tissue tension, unraveling past emotional or mental trauma, and help clear unwanted cellular memory.
Have fun discovering how you breathe now, through in-class measurements and a personal assessment; learn the physiology of breath through hands-on visualization techniques; expand your intake with specific exercises and, experience a fully supported breathwork session. We will conclude with some sharing and a fruit feast.
After this initial four-hour seminar, you will be eligible for our monthly follow-up sessions offered at Harmoni.
Please bring 2 blankets, pillow, mat and some fruit to share at the end of our healing breathwork session.
Rukhshana Surty, Director of Harmoni Holistic Center, is a Body-Mind Therapist (deep-tissue and emotional release work), and teacher of Breathwork, Meditation, Massage and Yoga.

Shamanic Journey
Thursday, February 4, 7:30 – 9:30 pm $25
As interest in healing methods has grown and become more mainstream, and as researchers have discovered the universality and remarkable results of shamans, there is a widening interest in living, healing and working on the Shamanic path. This interest has been furthered as the laws now being expounded by theoretical physicists are congruent with the shaman's understanding of reality and the other worlds. Ancient sages of both Eastern and Western disciplines have utilized the major part of Shamanic processes. In this workshop we go on a magical, mystical journey and meet with our power, (spirit), animal, and receive messages from our spirit guides. You will be guided through visualization and the sound of the drum, to “travel” to the worlds where the animal spirits live. In this world, you will find your power, (or spirit), animal, that guides you right now. After spending some time with the animal in your vision, we return and have a nurturing discussion, interpretation and sharing of your journey

Drumming Circle
Thursday, March 11, 7:30 - 9:30 pm (donation)
A drumming circle, or rhythm circle, is a group of people creating and sharing a rhythmical and musical experience. The instruments used are usually percussion instruments including drums, metal, wood and shakers. The circle format is used to optimize listening and communicating because in a circle everyone is an equal participant. The sustained repetition of the beat results in a phenomenon called rhythmic entrainment. Entrainment uplifts the self physically, mentally and emotionally. There is a calming effect on the body and an energizing effect on the spirit. We are rhythmical beings living in a rhythmical universe. Rhythm is a fundamental aspect of our very existence. It is a manifestation of our being in this life. The universe contains many rhythmical systems on a continuum from sub atomic particles through to the movement of the stars. All these rhythmical systems are interlinked and interdependent.

Visionary Mandala Art
Sunday, April 18, 1:00 - 4:00 pm $45
Mandalas, (the Sanskrit word for circle), have been used as a tool for transformation since the beginning of time by every culture in the world. They have many purposes, including healing and connecting us to Divine Energy, or our intuition, our creative self, the Source of unconditional love, our Higher Power, or whatever concept we use to describe that part of ourselves beyond knowing. When we are connected, we receive information in the form of healing symbols. Since the information is non-verbal, the Mandala often gives us insights that we could get in no other way. In addition, the process is often fun and stimulates our creativity.
The creation of a Mandala puts us into an altered or meditative state, which slows down time, focuses our intention and helps us to become more mindful, and more loving. We become channels for Divine Energy or find a deeper form of self-expression. The healing qualities of the Mandala touch us on a physical, mental, emotional, and/or spiritual level. The guided meditation process often opens our hearts to unconditional love from a Source beyond ourselves not only for our healing, but also for others, and even the world.
Through the phenomenon of resonance, your energy field is positively transformed by coming into contact with, and being surrounded by, positive energies. Our thoughts and feelings, colours, and shapes in nature, all give off vibrations. By surrounding ourselves with vibrations that support well-being, feel good, and resonate with love, joy, balance and self-empowerment, we create powerful effects on our wellness of body, mind and soul.
Join us for a workshop to create your very own unique, healing Mandala, by utilizing heart focused intention. Two Mandalas will be created in this session; the first one is the shadow Mandala that will facilitate releasing old thought and behavioral patterns that no longer serve our highest purpose. The second Mandala will be infused with heart focused intention to manifest higher energies. During the course there will be two meditations - one to release and one to channel unique energy frequencies specific to each individual. (All materials are supplied)
